News: Andhra Pradesh’s community-led natural farming programme has won the 2026 Food Planet Prize.
About 2026 Food Planet Prize

- About Food Planet Prize is the world’s largest environmental award.
- Presented by: It is presented annually by the Curt Bergfors Foundation in Sweden.
- It rewards innovative initiatives that will improve the global food system within ten years while supporting a resilient biosphere and feeding a growing world population.
- The prize is given for two categories, namely:
- Existing scalable solution for sustainable foods and
- Innovative initiatives that could transform the global food sector.
- About nominations: Nominations are submitted through the website’s nomination form, which remains open throughout the year.
- The nominations team evaluates each submission using publicly available information, considering factors such as impact, evidence, and relevance to the food system.
- Nominations may remain under consideration for multiple years if they continue to show potential.
About 2026 Food Planet Prize
- Winner: The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) programme won the 2026 Food Planet Prize.
- Finalists: The other finalists, Conscious Kitchen of the United States, NoPalm Ingredients of the Netherlands and the Savanna Institute of the U.S.A.
- Prize 2026: The prize carries an award of 1.5 million USD to the winner and 150,000 USD to each finalist.
- APCNF was recognised by the Curt Bergfors Foundation for promoting farming practices that:
- Reduce dependence on synthetic inputs.
- Support climate-resilient agriculture.
- The competition received more than 1,000 nominations from around the world.
- APCNF was selected as one of four finalists from a longlist of 35 initiatives representing 19 countries and six continents.
