- Sahitya Akademi has selected 22 writers for the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2019 and 23 writers for Yuva Puraskar 2019.
- Bal Sahitya Puraskar is given to authors for their contribution in children literature. The Yuva Puraskar is given to writers aged below 35.
- The Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. It is the only institution that undertakes literary activities in 24 Indian languages, including English.
- It was founded by the government of India in 1954. Though set up by the government, the Akademi functions as an autonomous organisation.
