News:Cabinet has approved the elevation of Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics(BISAG),Gujarat as a National Institute under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology(MEITY),Government of India.

About BISAG:
- Currently,BISAG is a state agency under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat.It is registered as a Society and Trust with the Charity Commissioner of Ahmedabad.
- Its Governing body is chaired by the Chief Secretary,Government of Gujarat.
- It was established to facilitate the use of spatial and geo-spatial technologies for the planning and developmental activities pertaining to Agriculture, Land, Water Resource, education among others.
- However, now it will be an Autonomous Scientific Society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology(MEITY),Government of India.
