Explanation – Some of the indigenous cow breeds of India are: Gir, Sahiwal, Rathi, Deoni, Amritmahal, Red Sindhi, Sahiwal, Hallikar etc. Out of these, Gir is considered to be one of the best milking breeds in India, and is known for its high milk production and good butterfat content.

Hence, Rashtriya Gokul Mission has been focusing solely on Gir breed which threatens the purity of other indigenous breeds.
