Here’s the 47^th Edition of the EPIC Magazine!

The Focus Article of EPIC March 2024 covers the issue of One Nation One Election and the Recommendations of the Kovind Panel. The Kovind Panel has recommended a shift to the system of simultaneous election for the Lok Sabha and the State Legislative Assemblies. The Panel has also recommended two Constitution Amendment Bills to implement the transition. Shifting to a system of simultaneous elections has its benefits. The most tangible benefit is the reduction in expenditure on elections (by the political parties) along with other administrative efficiencies. However, several parties have raised valid concerns. The most fundamental concern is the impact on federal relations and federal polity. There are both benefits and costs of the shift. All political stakeholders must deliberate the recommendations of the Panel to arrive at a decision regarding the way forward, which ideally should be unanimous.
