What is Hydrogel?

Hydrogel is a 3D network of hydrophilic polymer material that absorbs and retains water. Its structure consists of viscoelastic characteristics from the chemical or physical cross-linking of hydrophilic polymer chains. Available in solid and liquid forms, hydrogels are versatile and environmentally sensitive, responding to temperature, electric/magnetic fields, light, pressure, pH, ionic strength, and solvent compositions.

Uses of Hydrogel

Hydrogels are used in various applications:

Hygiene Products: Used in hair gel, toothpaste, diapers, and sanitary pads due to their high water content and flexibility.

Medical Applications: Aid in wound healing, pain relief, and making burn bandages, contact lenses, and tissue engineering scaffolds.

Smart Wound Dressing: Contain sensors and electronics for advanced wound care.

Drug Delivery: Enable controlled, long-term, and monitored drug release.

Microfluidics: Used in drug delivery systems and liquid sample testing due to their non-toxicity and moldability.

Air Conditioning Systems: Hydrogels are used in passive cooling systems to absorb moisture and release it through evaporation, reducing energy consumption and enhancing cooling efficiency
