  • Initiative by:  Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce.
  • It was launched in August 2019.
  • It is based on the vision that every district in India has export potential comparable to that of a small country.
  • Aim: The programme aims to promote balanced regional development across all districts.
  • Objective:  To identify, brand, and promote district-specific products and services.
    • It seeks to increase their presence in domestic and international markets.
  • Institutional Framework: A structured mechanism has been set up in every State/UT through the State Export Promotion Committees (SEPC) and District Export Promotion Committees (DEPC).
  • Coverage: The initiative covers key sectors such as agriculture, toys, and GI-tagged products, among others.
  • Features:
    • Export promotion activities are being decentralised.
    • District Export Action Plans (DEAPs): DEAPs have been prepared for 590 districts.
