News– The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out back-to-back salvo launches of two Pralay missiles from the Odisha coast.
| Aspects | Description |
| Description | 1. ‘Pralay’ is a short-range, quasi-ballistic surface-to-surface missile with a range of 350-500 km. 2. It has a payload capacity of 500-1,000 kg and is powered by solid fuel. |
| Key Features | Flight & Propulsion: Quasi-ballistic missile that remains within the atmosphere, follows a depressed/flat trajectory, and uses a solid-propellant rocket motor. Guidance & Control: Inertial navigation with in-flight control, supported by RF-based Digital Scene-Matching Area Correlation (DSMAC) for terminal guidance. Sensors & Materials: Equipped with an indigenously developed Fused Silica Radar Dome (RADOME). Maneuverability & Stealth: Jet-vane thrust vector control enables terminal evasive maneuvers; dual fin sets help reduce radar signature. Warhead Flexibility: Can carry pre-fragmented (PF), monolithic penetration-cum-blast (PCB), or submunition penetration-cum-blast warheads. |
