News: India is participating in the United States Navy-led multinational anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise ‘Sea Dragon 2026’ being held near Guam.

- About: Exercise Sea Dragon 2026 is a multinational anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise conducted annually to strengthen maritime security and cooperation among allied nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
- Hosted by: It is hosted by U.S.A Navy’s 7th Fleet.
- Location: The exercise is being conducted at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.
- Aim: It aims to strengthen cooperation among allied maritime forces and enhance anti-submarine warfare capabilities across the Indo-Pacific region
- Focus: It focused on improving ASW tactics, interoperability, and multinational coordination in the Indo-Pacific region.
- First edition: The exercise was originally a bilateral naval drill between U.S.A and Australia in 2019. India joined the exercise in 2021.
- It is part of a broader series of cooperative defence activities conducted among Indo-Pacific partners to improve maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
- Participating nations: The participating nation includes U.S.A, India, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
- Indian Navy is participating with its P-8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
- Features
- During the exercise, participating crews will engage in ASW operations, including detecting and tracking both simulated and live submarine targets.
- The drills are designed to test speed, accuracy and coordinated mission execution in high-end maritime scenarios.
