  • Veera Pasi was a Dalit freedom fighter and trusted commander of Rana Beni Madhav Singh during the Revolt of 1857.
  • Origin: Veera Pasi was born as Shivdeen Pasi on 11 November 1835 in Lodhawari village of Raebareli district in an impoverished Pasi family.
  • Early Life: He lost his parents at an early age and later lived with his sister.
  • Association: Veera Pasi joined the army of Rana Beni Madhav Singh of Shankarpur Estate and later became his trusted lieutenant and personal bodyguard.
  • Historical Significance: During the 1857 revolt, Veera Pasi reportedly rescued Rana Beni Madhav Singh from British captivity through a clever prison escape plan.
  • British Crackdown: The British government announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 for Veera Pasi’s capture.
