  • Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 is a four-day multinational maritime training exercise.
  • Hosted by: The Indian Navy is hosting the exercise at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi under the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154).
  • Partnership: The exercise is conducted in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
    • The CMF is a multinational maritime partnership comprising more than 40 nations, with the Indian Navy playing an active role in advancing collaborative maritime security efforts.
  • Aim: The initiative aims to strengthen regional capacity building and enhance collective maritime security through closer cooperation among participating countries.
  • Key Features
    • Comprehensive Training Programme: The programme combines classroom instruction, simulator-based learning, and practical onboard training to provide professional maritime security training and operational exposure.
    • Training Areas: Participants receive training in maritime law, maritime domain awareness, information sharing, counter-narcotics operations, force protection, asymmetric threats, maritime uncrewed systems, damage control, firefighting, maritime communications, survival at sea, and boarding procedures.
    • Regional Maritime Cooperation: The exercise brings together personnel from Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) partner nations for practical exercises and the exchange of best practices to strengthen cooperation and collective maritime security.
