News: The number of Indian higher education institutions featured in the QS World University Rankings 2027 has increased.
About QS World University Rankings 2027

- QS World University Rankings 2027 indicates that the increase marks a significant expansion in India’s global university presence since the establishment of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
- Of the 52 Indian institutions ranked globally, 26 improved their positions, nine remained unchanged, and 15 declined.
- Two institutions entered the rankings for the first time.
- Highest-Ever Rankings: 18 Indian institutions achieved their best-ever rankings, including 13 non-IIT institutions.
- IIT Performances:
- IIT Delhi: Rose 5 places to 118th, matching the highest-ever position achieved by an Indian institution.
- IIT Bombay: Fell 5 places to 134th.
- IIT Madras: Rose to 170th.
- IIT Kharagpur: Rose to 205th.
- IISc Bengaluru: Ranked 221st.
- VIT and BITS Pilani: VIT climbed 94 places to 597th, while BITS Pilani rose 93 places to 575th.
- Other Major Gains: IIT Hyderabad gained 76 places, Jamia Millia Islamia rose more than 75 places to 686th, and Shoolini University climbed 51 places to 452nd.
