  • About: The EHTP Scheme is a 100% export-oriented scheme.
  • Aim: It is to promote exports of electronic hardware from India and STPI has been providing Statutory Services on a single-window Clearance System under EHTP Scheme. 
  • Nodal Ministry: The nodal ministry for the Scheme is the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
    • Implemented by: It is implemented via single-window statutory services provided by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).
  • There is no fund allocation under the EHTP scheme.
  • Activities undertaken: Units established under EHTP Scheme may carry out the following activities:
    • Manufacture any item of electronic hardware for export.
    • Manufacture of both hardware and software in an integrated manner for exports.
    • R&D activity, maintenance, testing and calibration services for electronics products meant for exports.
    • EHTP units may import all types of goods, including capital goods free of duty as defined in the Export Import (EXIM) Policy, required by it for manufacture, services, production and processing or in connection therewith.
    • The units shall also be permitted to import goods, including capital goods, free of cost or on loan from clients required for the approved activity.
    • EHTP units may procure goods required by them for manufacture, services, production and processing or in connection therewith, duty free, from bonded warehouses.
    • Simplified minimum export performance norms i.e. “Positive Net Foreign Exchange Earnings”.
  • Measures Undertaken under the scheme: Following measures have been taken to promote investment and expand participation under the EHTP Scheme:
    • Automation of Statutory Services: For providing seamless services to the EHTP units, STPI has automated statutory services through digital platform, its approval and final intimation to them. This has ensured speedy delivery of services to the satisfaction of the industry.
    • Simplification of Import Procedures: The earlier practice of case-to-case import permissions has been replaced with blanket import permissions for the financial year concerned.
    • Promotion and Industry Outreach: Regular stakeholder consultations, awareness programmes, industry interactions, and participation in trade events are organised to create awareness about the EHTP Scheme and encourage new investments.
  • Performance: The number of Electronics Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) units in India has increased to 79, with exports surpassing ₹11,100 crore in FY 2025–26.
