  • Central African Republic (CAR) is landlocked nation located in Central Africa.
  • It is bordered by six countries: Cameroon, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, and Chad.
  • Capital: It’s capital is Bangui.
  • Topography:
    • Fertit Hills: It lies to the northeast of the country.
      • This part is quite dry and arid and has little rainfall.
      • It marks the border with both Sudan and South Sudan.
    • Karre Mountains: They are located in the northwest of the country.
      • They are also referred to as Yade Massif.
      • These mountains are largely made up of granite plateaus.
    • In the north, the main mountains are in the Dar Challa range, which reaches 4,350 feet at Mount Ngaya near the Sudan border.
    • In the southeast, there is a plain crossed by several rivers.
  • Highest Point: Mount Ngaoui is the highest point of the country.
  • River: Major river are Ubangi and Sangha River.
  • Resources: It is rich in mineral resources, particularly diamonds, which generate nearly half of the country’s total export earnings.
    • Other minerals, including gold, uranium, iron ore, copper and manganese are also mined in smaller quantities.
    • Gold mining is centered around key resource areas like the Ndassima Gold Mine in the center of the country and artisanal sites in western prefectures like Nana-Mambéré near the Cameroon border.
  • National Park: The Dzanga-Sangha National Park is located in the southwest of the country and is home to the rare wildlife of Africa such as the Bongo Antelope.
