News: India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with Pacific Island countries, addressing the Dialogue Partner Session of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting in Koror, Palau.

About
  • The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) is an intergovernmental organization which was established in 1971.
  • Member countries: It comprises 18 member states located in the Pacific region, including – Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Naoero, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
  • Headquarters: Suva, Fiji
Aim
  • The PIF aims to promote economic growth, enhance political governance and security, and strengthen regional cooperation.
Vision
  • The vision of PIF is to create a resilient Pacific region characterized by peace, harmony, security, social inclusion, and prosperity, ensuring all Pacific peoples can lead-free, healthy, and productive lives.
Annual meeting
  • The PIF holds an annual meeting where member states discuss priority issues and reach decisions by consensus.
  • Decisions made during the meetings are implemented by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
  • The latest 2026 PIF meet (55th edition) is held in Koror, Palau.
