News: The Department of Financial Services (DFS) won the first prize under the ‘Rajbhasha Kirti’ category for the year 2025–26 at the 6th All India Official Language Conference held on the occasion of Hindi Diwas.
About Hindi Diwas
- Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year September 14 in India.
- The first Hindi Diwas was observed in 1953.
- It was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the country.
- Note: Article 343 of the Indian Constitution provided that the Official Language of the Union will be Hindi in the Devanagari script.
- Article 351 of the Indian Constitution provides a directive for promoting the spread and development of Hindi, with the aim of strengthening its role as a medium of expression for India’s composite culture.
- How it is observed: It is observed through speeches, essay competitions, poetry recitations, quizzes, debates, cultural programmes, and Hindi-related activities in schools, colleges, government offices and other institutions.
About Rajbhasha Kirti for 2025-26
- It is the highest award given by the Government of India in the field of official language implementation.
- Conferred by: This award is conferred by the Department of Official Language.
- Rajbhasha Kirti’ for 2025-26: The Department of Financial Services was awarded the First Prize under ‘Rajbhasha Kirti’ for its outstanding implementation and innovative achievements in the field of Official Language during the year 2025-26.
- Its given the category of ministries/departments with fewer than 300 personnel.
