News: HQ Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) is organising ‘Combined Operational Review and Evaluation (CORE)’ programme from 14 to 18 September 2026 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.

  • Combined Operational Review and Evaluation (CORE) Programme is a unique platform for civil-military engagement on national security.
  • Organised by: It has been organised by HQ Integrated Defence Staff (IDS).
  • Aims: It aims to provide senior leaders with exposure to contemporary national and regional security issues through interactions with distinguished subject matter experts and renowned speakers from diverse fields.
    • It also aims to prepare senior leadership to effectively address the dynamic and evolving challenges of national security.
  • Participants: It is a five-day programme for senior officers of the Defence Forces.
    • Officers from the Ministries of Defence, External Affairs and Home Affairs are also participating.
  • It will facilitate a deeper understanding of emerging challenges and enable participants to take balanced and well-informed decisions in their future leadership roles.
  • Themes covered: The programme will address emerging regional and global security challenges, technological transformation in warfare, and strategic communication.
    • It will also focus on enhancing civil-military understanding to effectively address complex national security issues.

About Integrated Defence Staff

  • The Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) was established as part of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) by the Government of India in 2001.
  • Headed by: The body is headed by the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, who is Vice Chief of Staff rank level officer and is also Vice Chief of Defence Staff.
  • Members: Members from all three branches of the military, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Department of Defence (DoD), and the Department of Defence Finance.
  • Mission: To promote high-level coordination and integration among the armed forces regarding policies, military strategies, and procurement processes through the adoption of best management practices.
