News: The Sri Lanka-India bilateral maritime exercise, SLINEX-26, is being conducted at Visakhapatnam.
About SLINEX-26
- SLINEX-26 is a bilateral maritime exercise between India and Sri Lanka .
- Indian and Sri Lankan navies participating in the exercise.
- It is an important platform for strengthening maritime cooperation, interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies.
- The exercise is aligned with India’s vision of MAHASAGAR and reinforces its commitment to a secure, stable and inclusive maritime environment.
- First edition: The first edition of the exercise was conceptualized and held in 2005.
- SLINEX-26 edition: This is the 13th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise.
- It is being conducted at Visakhapatnam from 17th September to 21st September 2026.
- Participation:
- India: The Indian Navy is participating with INS Kavaratti, an indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, and INS Jyoti, the Fleet Tanker.
- Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Navy is represented by SLNS Sindurala.
- Features:
- The exercise began with the Harbour Phase and will be followed by the Sea Phase.
- Harbour Phase: The Harbour Phase is being conducted under the aegis of the Eastern Naval Command. It includes professional interactions, cross-deck visits and exchange of best practices. Yoga, sports and cultural activities are also part of the programme.
- The Sea Phase will focus on enhancing operational synergy and interoperability through coordinated activities at sea.
- The exercise began with the Harbour Phase and will be followed by the Sea Phase.
