About Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026
- Yudh Abhyas 2026 is an annual bilateral army exercise between India and the United States.
- Origin: The exercise began in 2004 and is held alternately in India and the US.
- 2026 Edition: Yudh Abhyas 2026 is the 22nd edition of the exercise.
- Hosted by: This edition is being hosted by India at Auli in Uttarakhand and Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan.
- Key Features
- Integrated Battle Groups: It focuses on infantry-dominated operations in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain.
- Technology and Drones: Training includes drones, autonomous systems, surveillance, reconnaissance and counter-drone capabilities.
- MLIDS Deployment: For the first time, the US Army’s Mobile Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft Integrated Defeat System (MLIDS) is being deployed in India to counter unmanned aerial threats.
- Training Exercises: The drills include a Command Post Exercise (CPX) and a Field Training Exercise (FTX).
- Operation Pathways: The exercise is conducted under the Operation Pathways framework to strengthen information sharing, interoperability and joint operational preparedness.
