News: The 72nd National Film Awards will be presented at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat with President Droupadi Murmu conferring the prestigious honours recognising achievements in Indian cinema for 2024.

- The 72nd National Film Awards 2024 will be presented at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on September 22,
- Conferred by: The awards will be conferred by President Droupadi Murmu.
- Language covered: The awards cover several languages, including Marathi, Santhali, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Tulu and Garhwali.
- For the first time, a Santhali film was honoured in the Non-Feature Film section.
- Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024: Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 for his contribution to Indian cinema.

- Best Documentary: Ram-Nami
- Best Actor: Mammootty (Bramayugam) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion)

- Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment: Kalki 2898 AD
- Best Direction: Rajkumar Periasamy (Amaran)
- Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values: Captain Miller
- Films such as Pushpa: The Rule Part-02, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Stree 2 have also received honours.
