About United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
- United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is the world’s largest and most diverse gathering of policy-makers, practitioners, academia, intergovernmental organizations and civil society in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
- Organized by: It is organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
- The Congresses have been held every five years since 1955 in different parts of the world.
- The Congresses provide a forum for
- the exchange of views between States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and individual experts representing various professions and disciplines;
- the exchange of experiences in research, law and policy development; and
- the identification of emerging trends and issues in crime prevention and criminal justice.
About 15th Crime Congress
- The 15th Crime Congress is being held in Abu Dhabi 26 September to 1 October 2026.
- Its theme is “Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age”.
- The congress opened with the adoption of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, a framework aimed at boosting international cooperation against digital tech exploitation and fast-evolving transnational crimes.
