Read the spectrum book for Modern History. It is more than sufficient. For Ancient, Tamil Nadu Board book is best. Leave the Medieval history now. Rarely questions are asked from this section. Just take an overview from you tube videos or practice set.
A very good collection of Modern History is available on you tube. Just type – “Funtastic funda”. There are almost 90 lectures available. Entire modern history has been explained in best way.

I never read Medieval history dear. But Art n culture from it is important. By the way, my optional is Geography.

my optional is same as yours. How are you preparing for this ?
Well I have something different strategy for geog. Apart from book I have emphasized on current relevant topics. Especially for Indian geog and human geog.
current events from The Hindu ?
I do current event from Insights on daily basis and at the end of month from vision IAS.
Also do daily quiz on current events from Insights, forumias and civilsdaily.

only standard book bhai which everyone follow. Today may be i was lucky that i knew answer of 3 questions and two intelligent guesses. History is my optional so i give more time on this subject.

Hi Guys,
I am new to UPSC preparation. Which books I need to refer before attempting these questions
you can not solve these questions in your initial phase of preparation. As the syllabus of upsc will get covered. Gradually you will find it easy to solve the question.
Thanks Manish for your reply, I have one more Query. Several Other online platforms like Unacademy, Insights,etc are posting the same. So shall I need to follow all or choose one among them and follow religiously.
This is up to you buddy, If you think that you have time and apart from completing daily target can follow other sources as well!! At the end, their is enough of information available, choose wisely 🙂

There are so many online platform for preparation. All have the same motto to guide you in ur journey. You need to find ur comfort zone. Where u r more comfortable? How much time is there in ur hand for online portals? If u will ask me about my strategy for using the online portals, then this goes as :
1. mains marathon for mains answer writing. _ Not the secure initiative of insights.
2. quiz of forumias and insights both.
3. daily current affairs of insights.
4. editorials of forumias mostly while answering mains marathon.
find ur own way.
