nCoV outbreak declared a state calamity in Kerala

Kerala has declared nCoV outbreak a state calamity. Three cases of nCov has been corfirmed in the state.

A high level group of Ministers has been constituted on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the management of outbreak.

SC to frame issues for 9 judge bench hearing religious rights

The Supreme Court Monday said it will frame the legal issues to be adjudicated by a 9-judge Constitution bench on religious discrimination against women at various religious places — the larger question which arose during the Sabarimala case.

The SC took it upon itself to frame legal issues, as the lawyers representing various parties in the case have not arrived at a consensus on framing larger issues to be deliberated upon by the Constitution bench.

However, Several lawyers have vehemently opposed this move by SC. They have argued that 9 judge bench had no business to either drag other cases into the reference or frame such ‘larger issues’ when its sole mandate was to simply review the Sabrimala verdict.

Operation Vanilla brings Islands closer

India conducted Operation Vanilla – India’s flood relief mission to cyclone hit Madagascar. It delivered relief material such as food, clothing, medicines and water. After this humanitarian gesture by India, The Madagascar Defence Minister will visit Lucknow and Delhi. 

Vanilla Islands – group of island located in south western indian ocean. It is an affiliation of the island nations Seychelles, Madagascar, Reunion, Mauritius, Comoros, Mayotte in the Indian Ocean to form a new travel destination.

What Brexit means for the EU and its partners

UK has left the EU on Jan 31, 2020. A Withdrawal agreement has been negotiated between UK and EU providing a transition period until the end of 2020.

The article highlights that Brexit does not affect the core of European union and EU will be taken forward by the 27 member states.
