China’s new large rocket makes maiden flight

News:China has successfully launched the Long March 5B’ rocket and its prototype spacecraft from the Wenchang launch site in the southern island of Hainan,China.

Facts:

Long March 5B: It is a new version of the Long March 5 launcher, China’s most powerful rocket designed to:

• Transport astronauts to the permanent space station that China plans to complete by 2022.
• To carry China’s Mars mission named Tianwen in 2020. 
• To send an astronaut to the Moon in about a decade and then build a base there.
  • The United States is so far the only country to have successfully sent humans to the Moon.
