- World Elephant Day is observed every year on August 12.The goal of Elephant Day is to create awareness of the urgent plight of African and Asian elephants.
- This day also aims to share knowledge and positive solutions for the better care and management of captive and wild elephants.
- The African elephants are listed as Vulnerable and Asian elephants as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of threatened species.

- The solutions for the threats are (b) work towards better protection for wild animals (b)improve enforcement policies to prevent illegal poaching (c)Conserve the habitats of elephants and (d)provide better treatment for captive elephants.
