News:The annual Joint Indo-Sri Lanka maritime fleet exercise – SLINEX 2019 is scheduled to be held at the port of Visakhapatnam,India.
Facts:
- SLINEX exercise was started in 2005 between Indian and Sri Lankan Navy.
- It was previously held once in two years and now it has been converted to an annual event.
- SLINEX exercise is continuation of ongoing operational interaction between both navies wherein regular ships visits are being undertaken between the two countries.
- Over the years,SLINEX has helped both the Navies in understanding each other’s procedures and enhanced interoperability and contributed towards maritime security in the region.
