News: The Indian Army issued a ₹30,000 crore tender to BEL to procure five–six regiments of the indigenously developed ‘Anant Shastra’ system.
About ‘Anant Shastra’

- It is an indigenously developed surface-to-air missile system by DRDO.
- It is designed to provide mobile, short-range air defence against aerial threats such as drones, aircraft, and missiles.
- It was earlier known as the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM).
- Indian Army plans to induct five to six regiments (complete units).
- Key features
- Range: The system has an approximate range of 30 km, providing short-range air defence.
- It is highly mobile and supports fire-on-the-move, enabling detection and interception while in motion.
- It operates effectively in both day and night conditions across varied terrains.
- It provides 360-degree surveillance with continuous target tracking for timely engagements.
- It can engage low-RCS drones as well as fast-moving aircraft and missiles.
