AboutThe ASEAN-India Fellowship aligns with India’s ‘Act East Policy’ and the ‘Indo-Pacific Vision,’ emphasizing ASEAN unity and centrality.
Aim1. The ASEAN-India Fellowship aims to support postgraduate studies in emerging fields of agriculture and allied sciences.
2. It will also facilitate Indian faculty members’ visits to ASEAN countries to aid in capacity-building and promote the development of expert human resources in ASEAN for agricultural growth.
Fellowship ObjectivesThe fellowship will help researchers from both regions stay connected over the long term, fostering a better understanding of agriculture-related issues in ASEAN and India.
Program StructureStarting from the academic year 2024-25, the fellowship will award 50 fellowships (10 per year) to students from ASEAN member countries for a master’s degree in agriculture and allied sciences.
Funding and Benefits1. The project is funded under the ASEAN-India Fund for five years, covering fellowships, admission fees, living expenses, and incidental expenses for the students.
2. It will facilitate quality research-based education for ASEAN students and strengthen ties between India and the ASEAN community.
Long-Term BenefitsThis initiative will expose students to advanced research in Indian agricultural universities, preparing them for future innovations and promoting intercultural and international knowledge exchange between ASEAN countries and India.
