News– 10th Session of the APDIM on Inclusive Governance of Disaster Risk Data convened in New Delhi.
About APDIM
- Established: 2015 as a regional institution under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).
- Headquarters: Tehran, Iran.
- Governing Council: Consists of the Government of Iran and eight ESCAP member countries, each elected for a three-year term.
- Mandate: To support countries in the Asia-Pacific region in strengthening disaster risk reduction (DRR) through improved disaster information and knowledge management.
- Key Functions:
- Data and knowledge sharing
- Risk assessment and analytics
- Capacity building
- Strengthening early warning systems
- Response coordination and post-disaster recovery planning
