Why in the News?

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under its Capacity Building scheme, organised the 43rd CISO Deep-Dive training programme.

About CISO Deep-Dive training programme

1. The 43rd CISO Deep-Dive training program, has been organized by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under its Capacity Building scheme.

It took place from April 8-12, 2024, at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi.

2. This event drew participants from nine states across India, including senior officials from MeitY, NeGD, and IIPA.

3. It aimed at enhancing cyber resilience. The training focused on educating CISOs about cyber threats, latest protection technologies, legal frameworks, and policy formulation for cyber security.

4. The program also supports the Digital India initiative by promoting cyber safety and security awareness among government departments, thereby encouraging the development of a cyber-resilient ecosystem.

5. The programme also imparts holistic information and knowledge about cyber security to enable government departments to look after their cyber hygiene, safety and security.

6. The CISO training is the first-of-its-kind partnership between the Government and industry consortium under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

About ‘Cyber Surakshit Bharat’ initiative

1. Launched by: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in 2018.

2. Aim: To spread awareness about cybercrime and build capacity for safety measures for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and frontline IT staff across all government departments.

3. Significance: It is the first of its kind public-private partnership that leverages the expertise of the IT industry in cybersecurity along with MeitY’s organisations such as CDAC, CERT-In, NIC and STQC as the knowledge partners.
