Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Agriculture 02-August-2016 15:43 IST Horticulture Production Assessment under the Project CHAMAN
The nature of horticulture crops is such that it is not easy to make assessment of their production. These crops, especially vegetables are grown in small plots, fields or in the back of the houses, do not have single harvesting in most of the cases which makes their assessment difficult. Many horticulture crops have multiple pickings in a single season. Similarly many fruit trees are scattered, which do not count for assessment.
In view of above difficulties several research studies were taken up by agricultural scientists in the past. Recently Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare has launched a new project called CHAMAN. Under this project sound methodology for estimation of Horticulture crops is being developed and implemented on pilot basis using Sample Survey methodology and Remote Sensing technology

This programme envisages use of remote sensing data for area and production estimation of horticultural crops. The project is being implemented by Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre. It is under ministry of Science and technology 1 and 2 only 1 and 3 only 2 and 3 only All of the above Incorrect CHAMAN (Coordinated Horticulture Assessment using Management using geoiNformatics)
Statement 2 is wrong:
Under the Mission of Integrated Horticulture Development (MIDH), the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare has initiated the project CHAMAN (Coordinated Horticulture Assessment and Management using geoiNfromatics) for assessment and development of Horticulture through Remote Sensing & geo-informatics. The project is being implemented by Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) in collaboration with ISRO Centres (SAC & NRSC) and 12 state horticulture departments, NHRDF, IMD, ICAR Centre and State Remote Sensing Centres.
This programme envisages use of satellite remote sensing data for area and production estimation of 7 horticultural crops (Potato, Onion, Tomato, Chili, Mango, Banana and Citrus) in 12 major states in 180 districts. The programme also uses GIS (Geographical Information System) tools along with remote sensing data for generating action plans for horticultural development (site suitability, infrastructure development, crop intensification, orchard rejuvenation, aqua-horticulture, etc.). Another component of CHAMAN is to carry out research activities on horticultural crop condition studies, diseases assessment and precision farming.

Agriculture Railways Defence security Corps Satellite technology Correct ARPAN 3.0 stands for Army Record Office Process Automation 3.0
It is a new automation software for Defence Security Corps painful to ease personal documentation and all issues related to their progression.
It will provide soldiers of Indian Army easy access to their service records including pay and leave details and transfer and postings among others.

Nuclear submarine Survelliance ship Air craft carrier Corvette Correct It is second Arihant-classsubmarine. It is the second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine being built by India. It is being built under the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project to build nuclear submarines at the Ship Building Centre in Visakhapatnam. This submarine will have double the number of missile hatches than its predecessor INS Arihant giving it the ability to carry more missiles. This will have a more powerful reactor than its predecessor.

1 only 2 only Both 1 and 2 Neither 1 nor 2 Incorrect Bacteria are an example of prokaryotes. Prokaryotic cells do not contain a nucleus or any other membrane-bound organelle. Prokaryotes include two groups: bacteria and another group called archaea.
Eukaryotic cells contain membrane-bound organelles, including a nucleus. Eukaryotes can be single-celled or multi-celled, such as plants, fungi, humans and insects

Solution – Homogeneous mixture Suspension – They scatter light Colloid – size of the particle is too small 1,2 and 3 2 and 3 only 1 and 2 1 and 3 Correct Suspensions and colloids are heterogeneous mixtures. A suspension is identifiable because its particles are large and settle out of the dispersing medium due to the effects of gravity. The dispersed particles of a colloid are intermediate in size between those of a solution and a suspension.

Colloids scatter light (Tyndall Effect). Suspensions generally do not show Tyndall Effect.
Colloid particles lie in the range of 1-1000nm are small enough to remain suspended in the mixture all time and not settle like Suspension particles which are >1000nm. They would not become a solution as solution is a homogenous mixture where particles get dissolved and characteristically different from Colloids which are heterogenous mixture, but the particles are small and can be seen only under a microscope.
Suspension also do scatter light until the particles do not get settled Eg in case of mixture of chalk powder and water until the particles appear suspended, it does show tyndall effect while the Colloids show Tyndall effect always as the small sized particles form hetreogenous mixture and always remain suspended

Colloids scatter light (Tyndall Effect).
Suspensions generally do not show Tyndall Effect.
Exactly. Also Colloid particles are not too small, if they were too small they’d become a solution.
Also, words like too small and too big are very vague and subjective. Even milk way is too small compared to size of the universe.
Suspension also do scatter light until the particles do not get settled Eg in case of mixture of chalk powder and water until the particles appear suspended, it does show tyndall effect while the Colloids show Tyndall effect always as the small sized particles form hetreogenous mixture and always remain suspended
