About Districts as Export Hubs (DEH) Initiative

- Initiative by: Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce.
- It was launched in August 2019.
- It is based on the vision that every district in India has export potential comparable to that of a small country.
- Aim: The programme aims to promote balanced regional development across all districts.
- Objective: To identify, brand, and promote district-specific products and services.
- It seeks to increase their presence in domestic and international markets.
- Institutional Framework: A structured mechanism has been set up in every State/UT through the State Export Promotion Committees (SEPC) and District Export Promotion Committees (DEPC).
- Coverage: The initiative covers key sectors such as agriculture, toys, and GI-tagged products, among others.
- Features:
- Export promotion activities are being decentralised.
- District Export Action Plans (DEAPs): DEAPs have been prepared for 590 districts.
