News: INS Nireekshak arrived in Colombo on April 21, 2026 to participate in the fourth edition of India–Sri Lanka DIVEX 2026.
About DIVEX 2026

- DIVEX (Diving Exercise) 2026 is a specialized bilateral naval exercise focused on diving and underwater operations between India and Sri Lanka.
- Host: The exercise is hosted by Sri Lanka in Colombo.
- Participants: The exercise includes participation of the Indian Navy and the Sri Lankan Navy.
- Duration: The exercise is scheduled from April 21 to April 27, 2026.
- Aim: The exercise aims to enhance the ability of both navies to operate together during underwater salvage, search, and rescue missions, and to strengthen coordination in the Indian Ocean Region under the MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) vision.
- Key Features:
- Humanitarian Outreach (BHISM Cubes): India is providing two BHISM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita & Maitri) cubes capable of handling up to 200 emergency cases, equipped with essential medicines and surgical tools for rapid response.
- Security Assistance: The Indian Navy is handing over 50,000 rounds of 9 mm ammunition to the Sri Lankan Navy to strengthen maritime security cooperation.
- Camaraderie and Dialogue: The programme includes social interactions, sports fixtures, joint yoga sessions, and high-level discussions to build friendship, goodwill, and cooperation.
- Significance: The exercise highlights the deep-rooted maritime partnership and reinforces commitment to stability, cooperation, and collective growth in the Indian Ocean Region.
