Preparation Strategy of IAS Topper Vaishali Chopra Rank 23 | UPSC 2022
Vaishali Chopra recommends the following:
1) In order to adequately get ready for the UPSC CSE, it’s crucial to develop a carefully organized study schedule and stick to it consistently. Instead of burdening yourself with a plethora of resources and study materials, it’s recommended to concentrate on a limited selection of books and materials to prevent the confusion that can arise from different explanations. Furthermore, it’s vital to restrict excessive internet usage, as it can divert your attention away from concentrated study.
2) Maintaining composure throughout the preparation process is crucial. It takes time for candidates to build momentum and achieve effective UPSC preparation. It is recommended to stay focused and avoid taking the preparation too seriously, as excessive stress can hinder progress.
3) A key aspect of successful preparation is to thoroughly study the UPSC curriculum. Strive to acquire in-depth knowledge of a wide range of topics covered in the exam. This comprehensive understanding will contribute to a solid foundation and better performance in the UPSC CSE.
4) Watching Videos: During my interview/mains preparation, I watched shows like Cut the Clutter by Shekhar Gupta (It cover 1 topic of current affair everyday) and Gravitas on WION (Old videos) is good for mains answer writing. However, these videos are meant for value addition. They are not a substitute for core content.
5) She also engaged in the following practice: For any keywords found in the mains syllabus, she attempted to search for them on Google, appending ‘UPSC’ to the queries and then making brief notes of the relevant points. She even employed a reverse engineering approach from test-series.
6) The majority of her preparation stemmed from fundamental books, online resources, and test-series. She consciously avoided relying on compilation PDFs because she understood that they wouldn’t contribute distinctiveness to her answers.
