News: The Indian Navy will commission the indigenously built Dunagiri, Sanshodhak and Agray platforms in Kolkata on Sunday.
About Dunagiri, Sanshodhak and Agray

- These are three indigenously built Indian Navy platforms designed to strengthen combat, survey and anti-submarine capabilities.
- Manufacturing & Design: The three vessels were designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau .
- Constructed by: All three vessels constructed by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
- Objective: The platforms are intended to enhance operational capabilities in maritime combat, hydrographic surveying and anti-submarine warfare.
- Key Aspects of Dunagiri:
- Stealth Frigate: Dunagiri is the fifth stealth frigate built under Project 17A.
- Advanced Weapon Systems: It is equipped with BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles and the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) system.
- Key Aspects of Sanshodhak:
- Survey Role: It is the fourth Survey Vessel (Large) designed for coastal and deep-water hydrographic surveys.
- Data Collection: The ship collects oceanographic and geophysical data for defence and civilian applications.
- Advanced Technology: It is equipped with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).
- Key Aspects of Agray:
- Anti-Submarine Warfare Craft: Agray is the fourth vessel of the Arnala-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft series.
- Indigenous Combat Systems: It is fitted with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous rocket launchers and shallow-water sonar systems.
- Coastal Security Role: The platform is designed to detect and engage underwater threats in littoral and coastal waters.
