About DURGA scheme

• DURGA (Driving Upliftment and Rozgar for Women/Transgender Green e-Auto) Scheme aims to provide safe, clean and dignified employment opportunities to women and transgender persons.
• Launched by: It is an initiative by the Delhi Government.
• Objective: It also seeks to promote women’s safety, greater participation of transgender persons in the transport sector, last-mile connectivity and clean and sustainable urban transport.
• Eligibility: Women applicants must be 20 to 40 years of age, residents of Delhi, and must possess a valid Voter ID, Light Motor Vehicle driving licence and Public Service Vehicle Badge.
  • A woman with more than three children will not be eligible for the scheme.
  • The applicant or her family must not own any registered transport vehicle or three-wheeler.
  • The applicant’s family income during FY 2025–26 must not exceed ₹5 lakh.
  • Transgender applicants must submit a valid transgender certificate issued by the District Magistrate’s office and must fulfil the other prescribed eligibility conditions.
  • Applicants will be able to apply through a dedicated online portal to be created for the scheme.
• Key Features:
  • In the first phase, 1,300 pink electric autos will be provided, including 1,170 for women and 130 for transgender persons.
    • Each district will be allocated up to 90 e-autos for women and 10 e-autos for transgender persons.
  • The e-autos will have a mandatory three-year lock-in period, during which they cannot be sold, transferred or disposed of.
  • The e-autos will carry DURGA branding and special identification features so that passengers can easily identify them.
  • The scheme also provides for integration of e-autos with the public transport network.
• Electric vehicle charging facilities are already available in the parking areas of 70 Delhi Metro stations, which will support the operation of these e-autos.
