Dear Bravo 57, As of now, FCA 1980 does not have any provisions regarding the Conservation of the coastal and marine environment. Regarding Mangrove forests, At present, they explicitly fall under Coastal Regulation Zone. This is also mentioned by Supreme Court in Krishnadevi Malchand Kamathia vs Bombay Environmental Action case, 2011. In that case the court held that “mangrove forests are of great ecological importance and are also ecologically sensitive and that is why they fall under the category of CRZ-I (Coastal Regulatory Zone)
