News: Armenia has revealed the official logo for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, featuring the Erivan Anomalous Blue Butterfly at its centre.
About Erivan Anomalous Blue Butterfly

- It is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae and the genus Polyommatus.
- The species is endemic to Southern Transcaucasia, which is so far found only in Armenia.
- It was first scientifically described by Walter Forster in 1960.
- Habitat: The species inhabits calcareous grasslands in Armenia. It is found at elevations ranging from about 1,200 to 2,200 metres above sea level.
- The wingspan is 28–32 mm.
- Life Cycle: The larvae feed on plants of the genus Astragalus, though the exact host species has not yet been identified.
- It is known to have one generation per year, with adults active from mid-June to mid-July.
- Conservation status: It is not evaluated for IUCN Red List and for European Red List of Butterflies.
- It is included in Armenian Red Book of Animals, as Endangered.
