The thought that poverty is an inevitability and is inborn and inseparable is entirety erroneous.—– Poverty is society’s way of perpetually dehumanizing people and subjecting them to unlivable conditions. The effects of poverty include mental and physical illness, inadequate nutrition, food insecurity, adverse effects on academic outcomes . . . the list goes on. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die of famine each day.
As Per APA report There are Few barriers– Social Division Poverty– First and foremost is marginalization, which is assigning and confining a group to inferior conditions. As a result of marginalization, access to good education and jobs are limited. Thus Poor have to all form of violence be it physical ,mental and psychological.People tend to disrespect them and fail to live life with full dignity. We can argue that the poor are poor because they were ignored throughout History as being of inferior caste or class or race. Or maybe, they lost their vigour to work with time and could never come out of poverty in some later times. Poverty can be because of unbalanced and unchecked growth of society. This can be related to corruption in governance.
Economic Poverty–No person is inferior based on race, gender, sexual orientation or ability. We need to provide access, education and tools to those who are most vulnerable in our community . Ahead of all the causes of poverty comes the unequal sharing of resources. They are forced to live in a hand to mouth condition depriving them from basics amenities.
Education Poverty–Being Poor you can not afford a good education which is also a kind of a violence. Womens’ lack of education leads to higher adolescent birth rates. This in turn over-burdens an already economically strained community, aggravating the situation and can not benefit a government schemes. For Example-The chance so a cobbler‘s son becoming a cobbler is more that the chances of an engineer‘s son becoming as engineer as they grow up. This can be understood by looking into the earnings of the parents of a child. Poor father may not even earn enough to fill the stomach of this child. The rich father can take care of high educational fees
Disparity In Income Poverty–Low wages, verses increasing prices of living supplies. As a result, the middle class is disappearing in most developing countries, and adding up to the poorer population. Millions of people live with hunger because they simply cannot afford to buy food. Beacuse of worse situation People tend to send their kids to work in unfavorable situation,Child falls in the trap as domestic workers or maid, child trafficking, and assaultation,After committing the crime rich get scout free but poor have to suffer all his life. Today the per capita consumption of a person belonging to SC or ST family is nearly half than that of any person from other social group. This became the reason behind caste based reservation in education and public job sectors.
Health Poverty– Poor people tend to face certain health issues as they are prone to it because of deprivation of basic infrastructure. They can not afford fees of private hospitals ,people in the hospital also shows indifferent attitude towards disadvantage section of people.and they remain in a denial of RIGHT TO HEALTH.
Other Sphere—– # Politicians tend to ask votes during elections but do nothing for poor people in return they kept poor people in false promises and taking full advatange of them.Poor people can not walk up to the politicians to making things done # In Village Patwari System is prevalent to keep records of the land but administrative are indolent to co operate with the farmers or poor people.Sometimes their land are also took away from them in foul way. # Our Judicial system is such labyrinth it is so difficult for them to seek legal help # During disaster ie earthquake or floods it is the poor who have to suffer the most, they lost everything including shelter and employment and become hard nut to crack to recover them # In International Forum Poor countries voice went unheard,Rich countries look down upon on poor countries.
Certain Ways To Make Some Changes— 1 Need To Educate Yourself–Lack of affordable housing, sad state of public education, domestic violence that pervades every state in this country. By reading and educating yourself, you can strengthen your understanding of anti-poverty aspects of Womens’ rights, economic human rights and workers rights.
2 Take Legislative Action–Citizen-driven resources like to support in areas such as affordable housing and education, living wages, food security, universal health care, child care recently Haryana Government launched MAHILA POLICE VOLUNTEER INITIATIVE and some other schemes like VANBANDHU KALYAN YOJANA (welfare of tribal population) and SWACHH SWASTH SARVATRA Scheme
3 Volunteer Help–We can Volunteer with Kids, famlies and elderly people with computer teaching, sports.donate leftovers.
Whatever definition or figure, one finally settles with, the fact that India has a huge burden of global poor population today, is undeniable .A lot of time and resources are spent to address this concern. But some inherent challenges are always there viz: a) identification of poor b) targeting of the real beneficiary of State welfare schemes c) capacity building at lowest levels. There are some States in India today where the government programmes have performed rally well. And this is shown in the various developmental indices. But there are certain areas where corruption and leakages have marred the State‘s effort to bring more and more people out of BPL
The schemes like MGNREGA, SSA, Mid Day Meal etc have played crucial role, especially in rural India. The Food Security Act, 2013 too promises to address the concern of millions of people sleeping hungry while food grains were rotting in our granaries.
But in recent decade lot has been changed When Institution Body like WHO,UNICEF and UN,have come up with the idea like MDG etc poor people still being expolited in some way.
Empowerment is directly linked with poverty. Amartya Sen in this Povety and Famine, argues that famine may occur even when there are ample food grain reserves. It is the poverty and the inability to by that leads to starvation, malnutrition and even death. Panchayats may empower people. It was Gandhi ji’s vision to strengthen the village panchayats. Again, he knew that people need to be empowered then only poverty can be addressed.
Hence,Mahatma Gandhi saw poverty as worst form of violence. And those who experience it do not even know why they are poor. Nelson Mandela believed that poverty is man-made. Certainly, there is a historic reason behind some being chronically poor. There were untouchables in India, and even today some tribes are denotified. It is worst form of violence, as if does not only hurts physically but also spiritually.
Gandhiji was aware of such pain and he insisted the general public to live a frugal life in which a person acquires only that much wealth that he needs. He believed that there is enough for everyone‘s need but not for everyone‘s greed.

Hello, I am new to this forum. Please examine my answer… “Poverty is the worst form of violence”—
Mohit and Amit were coming to home from bike after watching a movie, in the way they saw a “Poverty enrollment centre” ( so that poor can avail the benefits). They immediately approched to the centre , enroll themselves (after bribing them) and also called their relatives and friends to join and the reason was simple “to get the benefits from government”. Poverty– a undefined term , which can be seen, felt , but not defined, similar to psychological term devil, whose acts are seen but hard to define. From the starting of 20th CE , the World was in Chaos , poverty was at it’s peak , the concentration of wealth and inequality between society was growing. People have seen World wars , massive killings, Holocausts, Financial Crisis , increasing debts, destabilized governments , fall of Old institutions, Rise of new world order and ideas. And foundation of all these were laid on shoulders of poor and middle section of societies, irrespective of the country they belonged.
The Great Bengal Famine proved to be one example which killed more than 40 lakh people just by starvation. The victim were poor, middle class was reduced to next class of poor. Peasants, artisans, labours etc were most affected. The biggest asset they carried with them was poverty. However there were many reasons worldwide which enlarges poor base . Some of them are– Western Imperialism, Exploitative Colonialism, Illiteracy, Influence of Religion and Superstition, Wars, Destabilized governments etc…
Many thinkers have tried to introduced new ideas for removal of Poverty worldwide but everywhere there was surge of massive accumulation of Wealth on one hand and massive increment in poverty on other . All three ideas failed whether it is Capitalism, Socialism or Communism . The new World order of Globalization is also bit shaking.
In India(and Worldwide), many committees were formed , protests happened against governments, Many initiatives were taken but still more than 1/3rd people in world is poor.
Poverty is not a Photoelectric Emission Theory that the poor comes out of Poverty as it acquires the threshold energy. It cannot be defined by a threshold line. Poverty is a Range , and yes Relative to other also . It is also something like have’s and have’s not. Poverty depends on person to person, their breeding environment, and their mind. Ex: A person having 2Wheeler in village can be considered as rich in village but in city he is nowhere… So it will be true to say it varies from area to area…and varies in different geographies. Poverty is a state of mind , a psychological phenomenon (in today’s world) affected by environment and society , stands true.
However there are many who are poor (as they lack basic things to live) , current government policies are there to address to address them. In last few decades more than 200 million people were taken out of Poverty ( above poverty line). Today the need of hour of governments is Capacity building, training and job creation , which is expected to remove poverty. However there should be a method to curb the poverty which arises out of mind.
Every able person have the capacity to come out of ” poverty” and this violence can be taken over by non- violent means.

If government is unable to cope out the people from poverty or government policy is against the poor people, then what is the interest of any government in doing so? It may be policy failure, inappropriate resource allocation, injustice act, negligence or so on. We can’t lebel it as a violence. Violence is a harsh term, strongly associated with reaping gain on the cost of other. Yes, it may be true that government may do unfavor support to a rich class of society at the cost of poor people but such instances are very few. We can’t generalize the poverty defined by the term – violence.
