News: The Indian Army contingent departed for Egypt to participate in Exercise Cyclone-IV scheduled at Anshas from 09 to 17 April 2026.
About Exercise Cyclone-IV
- It is a joint special forces exercise conducted between India and Egypt.
- Aim: It aims to enhance joint mission planning capabilities and improve interoperability through the exchange of best practices in special operations.
- Frequency: It is an annual exercise conducted alternatively in India and Egypt.
- 2026 Edition: It is the fourth edition of the Exercise Cyclone series.
- Location: The exercise is being conducted at Anshas in Egypt.
- First Edition: The first edition was held at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in January 2023.
- Key Features
- Participating Forces: The Indian contingent comprises 25 personnel from Special Forces units, who train alongside Egyptian counterparts in a realistic operational environment.
- Operational Training: The participating troops undertake training in special operational tactics, techniques, and procedures in desert and semi-desert terrain.
- Professional Exchange: The exercise facilitates mutual exchange of professional expertise and strengthens camaraderie and understanding of military traditions and cultures.
- Significance: It strengthens defence cooperation, mutual trust, and military ties between India and Egypt.
