  1. India’s Home Minister has conveyed to Interpol that India would like the international police agency to expedite its process of publishing Red Notices(RNs).
  2. Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
  3. It contains two main types of information (a)Information to identify the wanted person such as their name, date of birth etc and (b)Information related to the crime they are wanted.
  4. Red Notices are published by INTERPOL at the request of a member country and must comply with INTERPOL’s Constitution and Rules.A Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant. 
  5. Interpol is the shorter and better known name of the International Criminal Police Organization.It is a network comprising 192 member nations including India.The agency was established in 1923.It is headquartered at Lyon,France.
  6. The Interpol basically connects police across the world even if these individual member nations do not have diplomatic relations.The Interpol facilitates information exchange, knowledge sharing and research between nations.
