News: The BRICS nations adopted the Guwahati Declaration at the BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies Meeting held in Guwahati under India’s 2026 BRICS chairmanship.

About BRICS

  • BRICS is an intergovernmental organization of major emerging economies that aims to promote greater economic and geopolitical integration and coordination among member states.
  • Formation and Expansion: BRICS began as BRIC countries comprising Brazil, Russia, India and China, South Africa joined in 2010, five countries joined in 2024, and Indonesia became a member in 2025.
  • Membership: BRICS currently consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
