News: For effective realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), countries need to make efforts to boost human development.

1. Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): They are a set of 17 goals adopted by all United Nations member states as part of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

2. They aim to address global challenges like poverty, hunger, gender inequality, climate change etc. to ensure a sustainable future for all.

3. Human Development Index (HDI): It is a statistical tool used to measure achievements in three key dimensions of human development: A) Life Expectancy B) Education C) Standard of Living.

4. India is ranked 134/193 in the Human Development Index (HDI) for 2023-24.

5. HDI is published in the Human Development Report, which is released annually by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

6. The Human Development Report also presents the Gender Development Index (GDI), which measures disparities in human development by gender.
