  • The Jawahar Dweep is a restricted offshore island terminal in Mumbai Harbour.
    • It lies in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai’s eastern waterfront, about 8.25 km northeast of the Gateway of India.
  • It is historically known as Butcher Island.
  • Ownership: It is owned and operated by the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA).
    • It handles crude oil, LPG and petroleum products from ocean-going oil tankers.
  • Geological Formation: The island has Deccan Traps basaltic bedrock.
  • Island Formation: It is a submerged topographic high or continental island remnant within Mumbai’s estuarine harbour basin.
  • Recent Achievement
