News: The ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ has been awarded to 490 personnel of various States/Union Territories (UTs)/Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)/Central Police Organisations (CPOs) for the year 2026.
About Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak
- The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak are medals given to recognize excellent work, promote high professional standards and boost the morale of the concerned official/officer.
- Instituted by: It has been instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2024.
- Creation: They are created by merging the 4 previously existing MHA awards –
- The Special Operation Medal,
- The Medal for Excellence in Investigation,
- The Exceptional Intelligence Efficiency Medal, and
- The Union Home Minister’s Award for Meritorious Service.
- Eligible Personnel: It is awarded to members of Police Forces, Security Organisations, Intelligence Wings, CPOs, CAPFs, NSG, Assam Rifles, and Central/State/UT Forensic Science departments across India.
- Basis for Conferment: It recognises excellence in operations, outstanding investigation, exceptional performance, daring intelligence service, and meritorious contributions by serving government scientists in forensic science.
- Frequency and date of announcement: The medal is announced on 31st of October every year, on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
