  • Location: Spain is located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. 
  • Bordering nations: It shares land borders with France and Andorra (northeast), Portugal (west) and and Gibraltar (South).
  • Bordering water bodies: The Bay of Biscay lies to the north.
    • The Atlantic Ocean lies to the west and northwest.
    • The Mediterranean Sea lies to the east and southeast.
  • It also includes several territories outside mainland Europe:
    • The autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla in North Africa
    • The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea

    • Plateau: Mainland Spain is largely dominated by a vast plateau Meseta Central.
    • Mountain: The Pyrenees Mountains form a natural boundary between Spain and France.
    • Rivers: The major rivers are Tagus River (longest river of the Iberian Peninsula and it flows into Portugal) and Ebro River (flows eastward into the Mediterranean Sea). 
    • Desert: The Tabernas Desert in Andalusia, Spain is considered the only true desert in mainland Europe.
    • Highest point: Its highest point is Teide Peak.
    • Natural resources: It is rich in mineral resources such as copper, fluorspar, gypsum, iron ore, kaolin, lead, magnesite, mercury, pyrites, sepiolite, tungsten, uranium, and zinc.
