Friends, We are starting Mains Marathon for Electrical Engineering optional. Before we start, we wish to share with you the Study Plan for Electrical Engineering Optional till Mains 2017.

Important Points:
- Technical optionals come with their own opportunities and challenges. Though It may take huge time to cover syllabus, yet it is one of the most rewarding optional in terms of Marks.
- Idea of Mains Marathon Engineering is to try to complete topics and practice questions, then try to solve Sectional tests published here.
- If you are reading electrical engineering seriously for first time, it is going to be a hard nut to crack. But, if you have done justice to engineering, you will sail through this plan. In most of the optionals,
- Variety of questions and patterns are very academic and static in nature. With good amount of practice, you can even predict your optional paper.
- On every weekend try to revise what have you read in last 5 days. Try to write sectional tests in exam like conditions, Detailed solutions will be provided.
- Sources: We will try to cover various type of question patterns from many sources like CSE, ESE and GATE previous year questions and unsolved problems of various standard books, which will cover most important concepts of topics.
- We will try to make them error free, but if you find any, do notify.
- Plan: Whole plan is divided into 11 weeks(16 July to 1 Oct).
Plan provides 5 days for study, Revision on Saturdays, and Sectional test on Sundays. Sectional Test will consist of 20 questions of mentioned topics.

Hello jannat jahan, last year i wrote mains with sociology but I got very less marks in optional. This time I may not clear prelims. So, I decided to change my optional to EE but I donno how to start n plan. Please help me on this as I donno anyone with this optional

If u r not going to write this time, divide the whole syllabus in 3 parts :-
1. Subject like measurement, emt, microprocessors, communications prepare these paper only by solving previous paper of ies and ias. No need to follow any books for these paper. (I m assuming that u have some basic concepts)
2. Subject likes circuit theory , digital electronics and control system, these r mathematical paper and comes very easy question and u will get full marks by solving question from these subject, so practice these paper regularly. I am following made easy class notes for control system and for circuit theory, fundamental for electric circuit by alexander
3. Subjects like machines, power system, power electronics and analog circuits, you need very good command, so follow nptel videos for these papers. Books for these paper I m following ashfaq hussain for machine, wadhawa for power system, bhimra for power electronics.
Made easy publication in few days going to launch previous year solved paper for electrical optional so must buy that book
And u will get many repeated question from previous year so just devotes most of ur time in solving previous year question

🙂 any optional u choose, you have to make hard work and this year, a candidate from civil engineering score 213 marks out of 250… and this only happens with numerical paper only…
And made easy will provide all the solved paper required for electrical optional which u will hardly find for any other optionals… all the best 🙂

Hi Sir… I am from ECe branch and don’t have basics from EE branch.. What one needs to do for this optional if he is from ECe branch?

You can refer to previous years questions to gain perspective…..apart from it follow this plan as well as one by madeeasy ( Next Ias, it is also conducting test series )…….you better refer to prakash rajpurohit blog for source of materials….
