News: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched Mission SAKSHAM for capacity building of the Urban Co-operative Banking sector.
About Mission SAKSHAM

- Mission SAKSHAM (Sahkari Bank Kshamta Nirman) is a nationwide training initiative for capacity building of the Urban Co-operative Banking sector (UCBs).
- Launched by: It has been launched by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
- It has been developed after extensive consultations with sector stakeholders, including the Umbrella Organisation of UCBs and various national and state-level cooperative federations.
- Aim: It aims to enhance managerial and operational capabilities, improve compliance culture, and strengthen institutional resilience across UCBs.
- Long-term vision: It also aims to establish a sustainable, self-reinforcing ecosystem for systemic stability and the healthy growth and development of the UCB sector.
- Features:
- It is a mission-mode, sector-wide and all-India capacity-building training initiative for UCBs.
- Under this initiative, RBI will conduct a large number of training programmes, both in-person and through e-learning courses.
- The RBI plans to use a mix of in-person sessions and digital learning formats, ensuring wider accessibility.
- These programmes will target groups including board members, senior management, heads of risk, among others.
- It will cover about 1 crore 40 lakh participants.
- It will also include content delivery in regional languages wherever possible.
