UPPCS 2024 Topper Neha Panchal (Deputy Collector): A Journey of Persistence and Success

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) recently announced the final results for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2024. Among the successful candidates, Neha Panchal has emerged as the topper, securing Rank 01 in the state. Her achievement has earned her the prestigious post of Deputy Collector, marking the culmination of a journey defined by steady dedication and resilience.

Originally hailing from the Shahdara area of Delhi, Neha Panchal’s roots extend to the Baraut region of the Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Sunil Panchal, works in the private sector, while her mother, Pinky Panchal, is a homemaker.

Neha’s academic foundation was laid at Motiram Memorial Girls Senior Secondary School in Delhi. Following her schooling, she pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi, graduating in 2013. Even during her school years, she was known for being a bright student with a strong focus on her studies.

After completing her graduation, Neha initially began preparing for various government job examinations. However, her true inclination toward the Civil Services became clear in 2018 when she started dedicated preparation for the UPSC and State PCS exams.

Her journey was not without its share of setbacks. In 2023, Neha reached the interview stage of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. In a heartbreaking turn of events, she missed the final selection by a narrow margin of just two marks. Despite the initial disappointment, she refused to let the failure discourage her. Instead, she used the experience to identify her weaknesses and intensified her preparation for the UPPSC PCS exam. While managing the rigors of competitive exams, she also continued her higher education, completing her Master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations in 2023.

Neha’s success in the UPPCS 2024 exam came in her fourth attempt. To excel in the state services, she shifted her focus toward Uttar Pradesh-specific subjects, including the state’s history, geography, administration, economics, and current affairs. She has emphasized that a deep understanding of the state and consistent answer-writing practice were the most critical factors in her securing the top rank.

Neha credits her massive success to the unwavering support of her family and her husband. Married and balancing familial responsibilities, she found a constant source of mental encouragement in her husband, who serves as a manager at Samsung Research and Development. In various interviews, she stated that her family never allowed her to feel weak, even after her narrow miss at the UPSC interview.

Neha Panchal’s story is a testimony to the power of perseverance. Her journey from the streets of Shahdara to the top of the Uttar Pradesh Civil Services serves as an inspiration for thousands of aspirants. Her primary advice to candidates is to remain steady in their efforts and focus heavily on the quality of their answers. By maintaining her composure and refining her strategy after every setback, Neha Panchal has carved her name at the very top of the 2024 batch of officers.
