News: The 35th Nepali Language Constitutional Recognition Day was observed on August 20 in India.
About Nepali Language Recognition Day

- This day is also known as Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas.
- It is celebrated on August 20 every year.
- Inclusion in 8th Schedule: In 1992, the Indian Parliament unanimously passed the 71st constitutional Amendment Bill to include Nepali, Manipuri and Konkani languages for inclusion in 8th schedule of constitution and on 31st August the President of India gave his consent.
- This day is very important for the India Nepali Community in solving their national identity and decades of demand struggle.
- In Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and other Nepali-speaking regions, it is celebrated as a symbol of pride in language, literature, culture, and community identity.
- Activities: Literary gatherings, poetry recitations, cultural programmes, and awareness events are organized in Nepali-speaking regions.
